MELISSA TONG

President

Melissa was a Business and Management student at John Snow College. As she was working as a marketing and development intern in Romania, she noticed a gap in understanding of the east, which becomes a major obstacle for western corporates to expanding businesses into East Asia. This sparked her ambition to develop a platform to fill this gap. Outside of study, she is also a professional Chinese music player, where she performs with her ensemble across the globe.

VIOLA LI

Viola was a Business and Management student at Stephenson College. In her penultimate year, she completed a summer internship at PwC Beijing and is excited by the new insights regard to the East Asian economies that she has developed. As a result, she is enthusiastic to share them through this platform. She is also a keen hill walker and a wonderful violinist. She wishes to transfer her commercial awareness and writing skills developed through articles writing to pursue a career in media and cultural industry.

RACHEL FUNG

Chief Social Researcher

Rachel was an Anthropology and Archaeology student from Hong Kong. She is passionate about human past and present, their cultures and lifestyles. Her work experiences at the World Green Organization, AIESEC Durham as well as her exchange to the Inner Mongolia have allowed her to understand the importance of the different components of our societies ie. business, education etc. By joining this society she hopes to promote the relationship between the people and their environment towards the politics and economics in East Asia.

WEIWEI CAO

Chief Economic Researcher

Weiwei was at Durham studying Accounting and Finance. She have been interested in pursuing a career in either management consultancy or Banking. Weiwei has experiences interning at the China Banking Regulatory Commission, which brings in valuable contribution as we conduct legal and society research. Outside of her academic life, Weiwei enjoys playing basketball for John Snow college and have represented the team at several matches. She is passionate about East Asian Economies and is looking forward to discuss the economic situation with the team.

TONY ZHENG

Chief Finance Researcher

Tony was a student in Finance. Originally coming from China, he is interested in sharing and exchanging new ideas of all projects. In his internship in China Construction Bank, Tonghui was exposed to the complexity of banking operation, and realised a need to develop other aspects of knowledge to understand economies better. As a founding member, he's always ready to start new adventures and open to new ideas.

CRISS WONG

Chief Political Researcher

Criss was  in Accounting and Finance. Before his study at Durham, he was particularly interested in the international politics and had 4 years Model United Nations experiences. In his penultimate years, Criss attended an Insight Day at Deloitte and completed a summer analyst role in financial consulting in London. Moreover, Criss enjoyed the cultural exchange and public speaking. As the co-founder of East Asian Economic Political Social Society, he always looks forward to contributing and sharing latest economic and political comments.
